Type of Assistive Technology: Electronic device
Level of Ability: The child must be able to suck from or blow into the device.
How It Works: This device works in tangent with any switch activated device. The switch box changes feedback from a sip or a puff to electrical input. The switch feedback is then accessed by the connected device.
Possible Uses: With this piece of technology, the user can give feedback in this alternative method as opposed to most methods which require use of gross or fine motor control in the limbs. Where that is not possible, this is a viable device. It can be connected to many different types of switch operated devices.
Notes: This technology is versatile mostly because it can be connected to many different types of other assistive devices, as long as the device is switch operated. This device can be connected to environmental control systems, communication devices, adapted toys and emergency call systems.
