Level of Ability: The child must be able to understand pictures as symbols or words and their corresponding meaning. The child must also be able to handle the cards or have somebody who can riffle, or sort, through the cards in order to select cards and affirm meaning.
How It Works: Cards are printed, laminated, and attached to a binder ring and riffled through to find the one needed to communicate a certain feeling, need, want, etc.
Possible Uses: With this piece of technology, the child or the person they are working with can riffle through the cards. There can be different sets of communication cards for different situations. With this piece of technology, the child or the person communicating with the child may point to the card, enabling the child to make choices or communicate understanding.
